Revision and examinations – this Open University short course has much useful advice on revision.

See this link for some very sound advice on concentration from Cambridge University and this on the same subject from Southampton University .

The Hull University Study Advice Service have produced the document on Independent Learning referred to on another page. The service offers many other excellent resources for its students. Much of the advice here is useful for students preparing for higher education.

Southampton University has already been mentioned for its concentration and independent learning guides, they have many other excellent guides which sixth form students preparing for university may find very helpful.

The Dublin University Study Skills site has online resources to help students develop fundamental learning skills.

The Cornell University Learning Strategies Centre has several study skills resources including advice on creating a daily to-do list and overcoming procrastination.

The New York Times has published an article with some advice rather different from the more conventional, the article states ‘for instance, instead of sticking to one study location, simply alternating the room where a person studies improves retention. So does studying distinct but related skills or concepts in one sitting, rather than focusing intensely on a single thing.’
