Targets

Setting Yourself Targets
Successful people set themselves targets and consider carefully how they will achieve those targets.
Consider any new targets you wish to set yourself.
What could you do that would really make a difference?

Are your targets SMART?

Record and Review
Record how you are getting on with your targets.
Where will you record your targets?
How often will you review your progress?

Ideas
You should be regularly reviewing your progress in your subjects and setting yourself targets but it may be that you feel a particular subject requires extra attention.

Is there a general target for example improving spelling, improving proofreading, or reading a greater variety of books which would help your progress in many areas?

Are you a good listener? Do you participate well in class?

Perhaps you feel there is an aspect of the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills which needs your attention. Are you a reflective learner for example? Or think about the skills of Self Management – these are crucial to Academic Success; is there an aspect of Self Management where an improvement could make a real difference. Evaluate how you are getting on with the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.

Think about your homework and study habits. Think about your revision skills.

Could you improve your presentation and communication skills?

Do you use a variety of resources? Do you use the Internet effectively?

For older students…and maybe some younger ones as well, have a look at the UCAS page - you may well find some inspiration for some targets here.

There are various online tools you may find helpful on the Digital Tools site.
