SMART Targets

Are your targets SMART?

Targets are unlikely to be motivating and useful unless they are expressed in SMART terms.

Specific
What is the task to be done?
Are you clear on exactly what you need to do?
Is the task very clearly stated?

Measurable
Will you be able to prove that you have achieved your target?
How will you provide evidence that you have done so?

Achievable
Is the task possible for you to achieve at the present time?
Is the target about action you can take?
Do you need help to achieve your target?
Do you have the resources you need?

Relevant or Realistic
Is it relevant to you?
Does it fit in with your long term goals?

Time related
How often do you need to take action?
Do you have a clear completion date?
Is this a long-term task?
